  • The Union of Oilfield Service Companies of Kazakhstan "KazService" presented the annual rating of the TOP 75 most influential people in the oil and gas industry of Kazakhstan. This year, the rating is published for the eighth time. Given the enormous contribution of the oil and gas industry to the country's economy, it was decided to increase the list to 75 people in order to cover a wider range of significant figures. The rating is based on opinions and assessments received from leading experts and representatives of the domestic oil and gas industry. The evaluation criteria include the degree of influence of the candidate on legislative initiatives and legal regulation of the industry, the market value of the company, its share in the oil production market, the amount of taxes paid, and the number of qualified employees. The social and economic significance of companies in the oil and gas sector also plays an important role

  • In 2019, the number of wells targeting significant discoveries worldwide was 91, up 36% from 2018. Drilling costs were flat at $3.5 billion, but average costs per well fell. Commercial volumes discovered were the highest since 2015, at about 13 billion barrels of oil equivalent (boe) from 27 significant discoveries announced to date. The commercial success rate was 32%, the highest in 10 years, and this level of activity is likely to continue into 2020.
